Floods are the most common and most destructive natural disaster in the United States. Ninety percent of all natural disasters involve flooding, and all 50 states have experienced floods or flash floods in the past five years, according to Floodsmart.gov. The damage from a flood is not covered under a standard homeowner's policy. Late last week, the Senate passed the Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018 ( S. 3042 ). The bipartisan bill, sponsored by Sens. Pat Roberts (R-Kansas) and Debbie Stabenow (D-Michigan), easily passed by a vote of 86 to 11.    Highlights include a wide range of provisions that impact farmers, the rural economy, and food and nutrition programs. The bill also includes an important provision to extend the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) through the end of 2018. The NFIP is currently scheduled to lapse at the end of July

Effective January 1, 2018, continuing education (CE) warning notifications will no longer be sent to licensees through the mail. Ninety days prior to a licensee's CE review date, a CE warning will be emailed to the email address on file if coursework has not been completed. It is the responsibility of all licensees to update their email and mailing addresses per Section 1238(1) of the Michigan Insurance Code, MCL 500.1238(1).
