I am a 2nd generation Insurance Agent who started out in the CAPTIVE world with a large carrier. One day I decided that there must be a better way. I turned in my notice to the captive company and re-launched my business from scratch as Andrew Gill Insurance Associates LLC. This was the best career decision I have ever made. The opportunity and ability to help more clients is nearly endless.
My journey to this new business started with the help of Joe Kobel and Ray Petrocelli at ASNOA (Agent Support Network of America). Their support and that of the ASNOA staff has been crucial to our early success. We are growing leaps and bounds and they have helped us do this efficiently and safely. They didn't just provide access to Carriers like many aggregator groups. They help you with the transition to and nuances of Independent Agency. They know how to do this because they did it themselves.
On a personal note, I started my adult career in the Automotive Industry as an Engineer/Program Manager for a large auto supplier. I always knew, some day, that I wanted to own my own business. I didn't necessarily expect it to be insurance. However, I have found my prior experience in critical problem solving, technical skills, mathematics, and process efficiency to be a huge asset in this new endeavor, and it helped shape me into the person I am today.
I live on a small hobby farm in rural Southeast Michigan with my loving and very understanding wife, 4 children, dog, cats, goats, and ducks. Its a regular zoo most days.
