The Michigan Association of Insurance Agents (MAIA) is the largest Association in Michigan for the Independent Insurance Agent, representing independent agencies and industry employees.

MAIA's History
The Michigan Association of Insurance Agents (MAIA) is a professional trade association for independent insurance agents. The Association was formed in 1992 as a result of the merger of the Professional Insurance Agents of Michigan (PIA) and the Independent Insurance Agents of Michigan (IIAM). MAIA is the largest association for independent agents in the state.

Memberships Offered
Full Membership
Independent agencies practicing Property & Casualty and/or Life & Health. Full members have access to the full range of MAIA services and can vote in elections, hold positions on state and national committees and the Board of Directors. Members are also enrolled in the national Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA) with access to their products, services and logos.
Requirements:
1. Licensed to practice insurance in the State of Michigan and have offices located in Michigan.
2. Have at least one insurance company appointment.
3. Company contract does not impose restrictions on representing additional companies.
4. Must have ownership of the expirations.
Associate Membership
Any insurance company, managing general agency, premium finance company or any other company that is not eligible for membership as a Full Member or Life & Health Associate can join the MAIA as an Associate Member.

Big "I" Affiliation
The Michigan Association of Insurance Agents is affiliated with the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA).
